Today, some of team Headshot London decided to go take a look (and listen) at a talk with iconic fashion photographer Nick Knight and co-speakers; fashion designer Mary Katrantzou; Pixie Geldof of Funky Offish; and entrepreneur Miroslava Duma. Naturally we were really there to listen to Nick speak but the others were good to hear too.
When we arrived at the Southbank Centre, the entrance to the Queen Elizabeth hall was dripping with women dressed in all sorts of wonderful outfits that might once have been featured in the pages of the magazine in question. The beautiful women were quite happy to pose for the street style photographers who littered the entrance outside… could I be on the pages of Vogue’s street chic?
They were in the main, a very stylish crowd, of course this is as you would expect from a vogue event. The possibilities of being spotted by Nick Knight or Alexandra Shulman – the editor of Vogue, could be a life changer.
One young girl clutching a Prada shoulder bag was hurrying towards the door eager to find her seat, stopping only to dispose of the tell tale paper bag that might inform the world that she bought her shoulder bag to wear especially for the event that very afternoon.
Nick Knight seemed to be a pleasant man and with no book of his to sign (no card payments, only cash at the book stall, sadly) he signed our guide instead. We will however go and find a copy of his book as we think very highly of him in our little world of pictures. Go see some of the talks whilst they are still on. highly recommended but not if you want to hear lots of photography related stuff. The talk was more about the use of online as a means to building a fashion related business.
Here is Natasha, one of our Junior photographers speaking with Nick Knight below… go buy his book, it looks really cool!
