A COLLECTION OF US

Well some of you may have seen Headshot London Blogs in the past and thought… It never really says much about us, only about what we do. Well this onsite blog will be a little different. It will concentrate on us as people. It is an opportunity to introduce a behind the scenes look at who we are and what we do. So with the new website launching in a few days, I thought I would start by adding a little bit about me.

I’m the guy above in the Sculpture Hall at the Manchester town council building. The picture is one of the few images ever taken of me… I am the illusive Pimpernel from the Baroness Orczy novel. Yana, wife, business partner and all-round good egg, insisted that we change the ‘Collection of us’ image from the one of me looking tired at Barcelona airport on the way back to London from the Catalunya Moto GP race, 2010. So here it is. Elena who is at the bottom of this page took it whilst we were on assignment up in Manchester for Balfour Beatty. The image she has was taken by me and I think we clearly have a good sense of history and drama to our shots… what do you think?

This is Yana who is often called the brains of the business… When you only have a head and no body, what else would they say… OK, OK, I thought it was funny but perhaps a little misleading. She is a complete woman and I don’t like to brag but she has… never mind!

Yana takes care of all the day to day running of the business; marketing, online updates, SEO, campaigns, pre-production and accounts. All the back office stuff you can think of as well as being a mean retoucher and makeup artist. It’s all important stuff as it allows me to concentrate purely on the creative side of the business. She is rarely seen and rarely admits to being the woman with the floating head. I just thought how funny it is that I am the Pimpernel and she’s a guillotined head. Spooky!

Our final permanent team member is Elena — Photographer, health nut and festival fan. She’s one to watch over the years and a great photographer and has recently been booked to shoot Jessie J — Who, you ask? Only one of the big UK music happenings!… But even though she is hobnobbing with the stars, she’s there to help, so don’t be afraid to ask if you need anything… Tea anyone?! It’s a joke… I’m joking… I am thirsty though.

  1. Hello David,
I attended on off the Headshot London workshops toward the end of this summer. I just wanted to say the session was really informative. You gave us enough information on the day to explore ideas and learn for ourselves. This was great, coupled with the individual guidance you freely gave.
I hope you will be glad to hear that since the workshop I have not used my camera on any pre-sets and used it solely on manual.
    Kind Regards paul Pibworth
